Stacy, a girl in her teens, is babysitting for a family in her neighborhood. The parents are going out for a late dinner and a movie. The father tells the babysitter that once the children are in bed she is more than welcome to help herself to whatever is in the kitchen and watch any of their movies or TV.
Shortly thereafter, the parents take off and Stacy begins getting the kids into bed. Once they are asleep, she goes into the TV room to watch a movie. While she is sitting there she is disturbed by a clown statue in the corner of the room. She tries to ignore it for as long as possible, but it starts freaking her out so much that she can't handle it.
She shuts off the movie and is about to go grab a snack and sit in a different room, when the phone rings. Stacy answers and it is only the parents calling to check in after dinner and before their movie. Stacy tells them that all is well, the kids are in bed and she was just about to watch a movie, but their clown statue was creeping her out so she was planning on grabbing a snack and reading in the living room.
The father suddenly gets a very serious tone and says, "Stacy, get the kids, go next door and call 911."
She asks, "What's going on?"
He responds, "Just go next door and once you call the police, call me back."
She gets the kids, runs next door, and calls the police. When the police are on the way, she calls the father back and asks, "So, really, what's going on?"
He responds, "We don't have a clown statue." He then further explains that the children have been complaining about a clown watching them as they sleep. He and his wife had just blown it off, assuming that they were having nightmares.
The police arrive and apprehend the "clown," who turns out to be a midget dressed as a clown, who had been sneaking into the house at night while the family slept. He would come into the kids' rooms at night and watch them while they slept. He had been in the TV room right before Stacy came in there. When she entered he didn't have enough time to hide, so he just froze in place and pretended to be a statue.
