Hey there kids. Welcome back to another weekly installment of our most-viewed blog post...New Release Tuesday!
The good news is that we should be able to keep this week's reviews short and sweet, as I did not see any of these movies, nor did I have any desire to. Cloud Atlas is arguably this week's main event, and with an IMDB score of 7.7, weighs in as a worthy contender. However, after watching the preview, it really just left me feeling hurt and confused. And while a showing of 7.7 may be good enough for some movies, for a mega blockbuster starring Tom Hanks, its a bit weak. Come on Forest, you can't let Mythbusters and Top Gear out score you.
As for Texas Chainsaw 3D, I honestly have no idea where to begin. This is a film that was perfect when it was originally released in 1974, had a few not-so-great sequels in the subsequent years, was fairly well remade in 2003, and should have done like Ray Lewis and gone out on a high note. The plot to this sequel/re-telling seemed flimsy at best, and left me with a desire to watch anything else. With a 5.0 from IMDB, this movie is left wanting, even for a horror flick.
As for the others, truthfully, I know little about each, and will leave the question of "to buy, or not to buy" completely up to you. However, know that you do so at your own risk. Back to 1942 gets a 6.6 from IMDB, Frankie Go Boom gets a 5.5, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III received a 4.9, and Tomorrow You're Gone rounds out the top 6 with a lowly 3.9. Again, all scores from IMDB.
