People, need something to watch? Thinkin netflix is gettng weak with their selection of shows and movies? Don't worry, thats why i'm going to find obscure shows and movies that seem rather interesting!
First show up Flashpoint.
Flashpoint comes to us from the great white north, or whatever Canada calls themselves. It is a police drama that spans 5 seasons, and actually aired its series finale in Dec 2012. The show follows a tactical police team know as the SRU, or the Strategic Response Unit. Think of these guys as a SWAT team combined with a negotiation unit.
The show almost always starts by showing a high drama moment towards the end of a conflict, then rewinds three, four or however many hours before the event takes place. Now, this seems like it can get somewhat repetitive. And i'll be the first to tell you, I thought I had the show figured out. I was mistaken.
This show does not follow the, "bad guy commits a crime, good guys come, eventually win, and everyone is happy" mold. No. People die in the first episode, i'll tell you that much.
You get a small insight into the lives of the characters and how they interact and the family bond between a group of people in such a high stress environment.
The show stars who I will dub Canada's Bruce Willis. His name is Hugh Dillon. Hes basically Mr. Super Cop. He's the team leader for Team 1 and he makes bold moves and decisions. I like that about him.
The other star of the show is probably a little more familiar. She goes by the name Amy Jo Johnson. Where have you seen that name before you ask? She is the original Pink Ranger from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. That's right, get excited. She plays a hot shot sniper in the show.
There are a couple other big characters in the show and the writers do a good job of evolving them as time goes on. You really get to see some on the mental wear and tear the job takes on them.
All in all, I give the show a 7.5/10
It's definitely worth the watch if you like cop shows, its a great change up from the CSIs and other cop dramas.
