Well ladies and gents we have a special recurring blog post in store for you for the coming weeks. Pol and I recently picked up Diablo III on XBOX 360 and have been playing a bit for research on an upcoming episode. However, we quickly discovered how much we actually enjoy the game, and how surprisingly complex and engaging it is on consoles.
So, we thought we'd do something a little different. We are always watching movies and playing games and telling you what we think. This time Pol and I will be posting periodically over the next month or two with thoughts and updates as we play the game. Each of us has selected a character, and while I will keep you guessing a few more days, here is Pol's first installment on playing through Diablo III as the Witch Doctor known as "Chang".
Tales of the Witch Doctor - Chapter 1
Ok guys its been awhile since ive posted but thats cause school sucks. Anyways. I finally have been able to dust off the xbox and play.
Diablo 3 was recently released for consoles and is the third installment for the diablo franchise. If you are new to Diablo don't worry, its pretty straight forward BUT complex enough to keep you hooked.
Ive started playing with the witch doctor. Why? You ask...
In most RPG games I play as the warrior / fighter class. Its typically my favorite class to run. But the game is featuring two new classes, the witch doctor (which I will call WD) and the monk. My brother wanted to try the monk out and I felt that the WD would be one of the less popular classes mostly because he looks weird/ awkward/ creepy. I named him Chang.
I actually made the mistake of jumping into Franc's game that he had already progressed in. So I was fighting evil that was a much higher level than I was. But not to worry. Our first real test came against the Skeleton King.
We died. A lot.
Mostly because when you are playing co op with another person the monsters get stronger. And I was bringing nothing to the table. But in the end we were able to kill him. After that fight we parted ways. I decided to farm monsters for a little while to get my level up. After getting up to about lvl 11 i decided to continue on with the missions. I knew what the fallen star was and went off to save the day. I now needed to gather pieces of something (no spoilers ftw) and return them to town.
With my armor and weapons and most importantly, my spells, starting to be awesome, I was finding the game a bit easy...until I ran into The Butcher.
The worst part was that he was the next boss fight after the Skeleton King! I had to be doing something wrong. And I was. Early on I had picked up some "rare" items and was finding it difficult to get rid of them as they had some good perks. What I didn't realize was that I was sacrificing a ton of armor and defense by keeping some of my early equipment. Unbelievable. I can't believe I didn't realize that.
I corrected my mistake, went back to meet The Butcher. The best way to describe the fight was a ROFLStomp. EZ PZ.
I collected the spoils of my victory and went back to town.
I'll be writing about Chang's adventures as I progress through the game. I wont be spoiling any of the story but if I do i'll have a SPOILER ALERT ready for ya.
